Welcome Voyager 2014-2015

Welcome Back!  The Voyage has BEGUN!

Wednesday brought introductions of new staff and old. The 7th graders introduced our new 5th graders and we began the process of building our 2014/15 Voyager community. We started off by forming our new advisory groups and creating advisory introductions, cheers, and a group flag!

On Thursday, we traveled to Sand Bar State Park for our 2nd Annual Beach Olympics where our advisories showcased their new cheers and flags in the Opening Ceremony. Our 5th-8th advisory teams competed in Whipped Cream
M &M find, water bucket, and bubble gum relays. Some of our hearty students went for a swim and we had a wonderful pizza lunch.

Today, we had a team wide scavenger hunt with challenging clues all around Williston Central School, including some places outside of the building. We finished off our day with a walk to Adam’s Market for ice cream. It has been a great start to the new school year, and it has been wonderful to see our students, new and old, connecting, reconnecting, and having fun! Next Tuesday will be dedicated to our yearly benchmark testing and our regular academic courses will begin on Wednesday.

A word about  planners...This year we elected to have 7th & 8th graders purchase their own planners. Students are now using so many different types of planners that we tend to have many, many extras when ordering class sets. We are very sorry that we omitted that from our summer letter, and we apologize for the inconvenience! Students should have their planners by Wednesday, September 3rd.
We will be making planners for the 5th and 6th grade students next week.  These planners will be used to record daily assignments for all classes.

Welcome to Voyager House!!

I am excited to see many of you again and look forward to meeting all of the new Voyager families!

Do you arrive early to school? Voyager House is open to students at 7:45 am - Students arriving earlier than this time can go to the cafeteria! Thank you!!

Voyager FAP Parent Representatives
Voyager house has been extremely fortunate over the past four years to have had Ann Schmidt as our FAP representative. During that time, Ann helped Voyager house establish some of our best traditions and fund raising events.  She has also been a strong advocate for Voyager at the school level and has supported teachers and students in numerous ways. It is now time to start recruiting a new group of parents to support Voyager house and represent us at the FAP level.

Our ideal situation would be to have one parent representative for each grade level.  By sharing the responsibilities of FAP representative by grade level, we will be ensuring that Voyager will continue to have strong representation for our Voyager community, our traditions will continue to grow and evolve, and we will maintain an experienced group of parents who can share the responsibilities of the position.  Please consider joining our FAP team.  Feel free to contact any of the Voyager teachers for more information.
